"Mr. Acosta, I can see you but I cannot hear you"

Patricia Waxler  aka Patricia Wheeler's has been arrested on meth charges twice. On November 10, her case was scheduled for sentencing; it was continued to November 13.

She was dressed in white and I have seen another female inmate in white as well. I checked with HCSO PIO Samantha Karges since female inmates typically wear blue.

"Inmates who work in our jail kitchen wear white," said Ms. Karges. "Typically they change back into their blue jumpsuits when they are finished working, however, sometimes that may not happen depending on shift and court times."

Waxler, like many inmates, looks different than her booking photo.

For at least 10 minutes, we waited on her attorney, Michael Acosta. He was on Zoom but there was no audio or response from him. "Mr. Acosta, I can see you but not hear you" said Judge Lawrence Killoran. "Mr. Acosta, can you hear me?" This was repeated several times. It is not the first time this issue has happened with Mr. Acosta.

When he finally turned his audio on, Mr. Acosta seemed to be ending a phone call. Then he asked for sentencing to be continued because he had not had a chance to discuss the report with Waxler.

Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm appeared on the case for the People.

11/13 update: Judge Lawrence Killoran sentenced Waxler to a stipulated deal of"one year in; two years out on mandatory supervision." She was reinstated on mandatory supervision for all her trailing matters.

Mr. Timm said this was "Waxler's 7th conviction for sales. For all future cases, because she has so many cases, the People will ask the Court deny mandatory supervision and ask the full term be served."
