Alleged molestor Joshua Strange denied release on OR and Supervised release; defense motion to reduce bail denied

OR/Bail hearing was scheduled for alleged molestor Joshua Strange today.
Strange and Public Defender Marek Reavis looked at the Supervised Release report, Strange told Mr. Reavis, "I mean, I understand."



Mr. Reavis told Judge Feeney, "Given the charges," supervised release is automatically denied. He made an argument for reduction of bail from 1.4 million to an amount that Strange could post. Strange's total assets, including his home are $250,000. Mr. Reavis said that Strange got a zero score on the Ohio Risk assessment. "While these are serious allegations, they are old."

Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer opposed the reduction of bail. Ms. Schaffer said there were no unusual circumstances. She admitted the allegations were old and mentioned the oral copulation and the bracelet charges; the alleged victim Jane Doe was 9 or 10 years old and said there was "concern other victims are out there."

Judge John Feeney denied release on OR,  denied supervised release and denied defense motion to reduce bail "at this time."

Judge Feeney denied release and the motion to reduce bail , "Given the serious nature of charges and out of concern for public safety."


Intervention is on 9/19. Preliminary hearing is on 9/24.

Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is prosecuting the case. The Public Defender's office was appointed on September 12 to represent Strange since he could not retain private attorney, Mr. David Nims.
