"I not only lost my sister that night, I lost my mother"

Some of Jevin Kitchen's statement today included what he said at the preliminary hearing. Most of the time he did not read from his written statement, he would glance at it sometimes, but he recalled memories as if he was in the moment.

Jevin's testimony at the preliminary hearing was heartbreaking; today Jevin's remarks were just as powerful. He referred to Marci Kitchen as Marci, not mom for most of his statement.

Jevin does not want to see Marci Kitchen ever or hear from her. He said she would never see his wife or his children.

Jevin said that Marci was a good mother but the past had been erased by her actions on the night she hit Kiya and Faith.

Marci sobbed as she heard Jevin speak about hating her with all his soul. Jevin said he had been manipulated, deceived and betrayed by her.

Joe Kitchen referred to Kiya Kitchen as his "baby girl." She was born on his birthday. Referring to Marci Kitchen, he said  that she gave Kiya to him as a gift and then took her away.

In a rare display of visible emotion, Joe Kitchen teared up today as he talked about the helplessness he felt watching  his son who is 6 feet 3 inches,"crawling and crying in his arms like a two year old."
