Michael Grant held to answer for attempted murder incident on Wabash



 



After his preliminary on February 8, Michael Grant was held to answer on both charges. Arraignment on information is February 20.

Count 1 is attempted murder with a special allegation of discharging a firearm. Count 2 is felon in possession of a firearm. These charges are from his  arrest in a June 16, 2017 incident.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Candace Myers. Grant is represented by Mr. Neal Sanders.

On June 16, 2017 at about 9:32 a.m., the Eureka Police Department received reports of two shots fired in the area of Wabash Avenue and B Street.  The suspect was seen leaving in a black Dodge Charger.  Officers responded and located two shell casings in the street on the 20 block of Wabash Avenue.  


During the course of the investigation the intended victim of the shooting was identified.  The victim was able to identify the shooter as 34 year old Eureka resident, Michael Grant. 
Based on supporting evidence, investigators developed probable cause that Grant attempted to kill the victim.
On June 21, 2017 at about 9:23 p.m., Michael Grant was arrested within a block of where the shooting took place.  He was in possession of a loaded handgun.  Grant was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on a warrant and fresh charges for felon in possession of a firearm.
