Every law enforcement agency in Humboldt County knows convicted sex offender Alan Cook.
Humboldt Deputy DA Jessica Watson lost to another pro per client. At a preliminary hearing on 9/29, Ms. Watson lost to Cook who is pro per. This is a Eureka Police Department case for failure to register as a sex offender. Should have been a slam dunk.
Humboldt Superior Court Presiding Judge Kelly Neel dismissed that case.
Currently, Ms. Watson is in trial with Cook on another misdemeanor drug case. Currently Jury selection is going on in this case. Today, Humboldt Superior Court Judge Steven Steward precluded Ms. Watson "from impeaching defendant as to prior convictions without providing a list of prior convictions to the Court prior to impeaching the defendant." This is directly from the October 6 court minutes.
10/8/26: Jury started deliberations at 2:33. Cook's motion for mistrial denied by Judge Steward.
10/9/26: Bailiff went to get jury at 3:45. 8 women 4 men just found pro per Alan Cook not guilty on two counts; guilty on two counts in a drunk in public case. I was there when the bailiff went to find out about the note from the jury at 3:45. They informed Judge Steward they had reached a verdict at 3:52. Deputy DA Jessica Watson is the prosecutor. Cook was sentenced to 90 days in custody; credit for 56 days and placedon 1 year probation. Some of the jurors stayed to speak with Ms. Watson.
With all these aliases, I am not going to list how many cases Cook has; I checked two of the aliases and the number of cases wouldn't even fit in two screenshots.
Ms. Watson lost to pro per Jorden Sterling now known as Jorden Place.
Two pro per clients with multiple cases won against a Humboldt County Deputy DA. You can read the outcome when I do my next update on that criminal case. Jorden Place has filed a motion to disqualify the Humboldt County DA's office and Ms. Watson.
