Local attorney charged with one felony, co-defendant with 3 felonies and a misdemeanor

This afternoon, local attorney Victor Campos and his co-defendant Kyle Cross were arraigned.

Cross is charged in Count 1 with possession for sale of a controlled substance; fentanyl. Campos and Cross are  charged in Count 2 with maintaining a place for selling or using a controlled substance; fentanyl. Cross is charged in Count 3 for unlawful possession of ammunition. Cross is charged in Count 4 for felon in posession of tear gas.

As of 8:30 this morning, both were still in custody.

Cross posted bond later in the day. People objected to Campos being released on O.R. by the Court and requested he be placed on ankle monitor. People also requested a hearing about PC 1524 (c) (2). Preliminary hearing was set for 3/22 and vacated. Setting of preliminary hearing is on 4/12. Public Defender appointed for Campos; Conflict Counsel for Cross. Deputy District Attorney Ian Harris is the DA prosecutor for drug cases. He is also the prosecutor on local attorney Michael Acosta's case.

A PC 1524 (c) (2) hearing is scheduled as a special set on 3/15 before Judge Christopher Wilson. PC 1524 (c) (2) pertains to a special procedure that must be followed if sought property is held by an attorney, doctor, psychotherapist, or member of the clergy.
