County fails to file response in lawsuit filed by Yurok Tribe employee

In February I reported on Yurok Tribe's Wellness Court Coordinator Pepper Lopez wrongful termination lawsuit against Humboldt County.

In my post last week were the court filings and allegations of retaliation as well as discrimination and harassment based on sex, gender identity, race, national origin and religion. On March 3, there was a case management conference.

At the March 3 hearing, Lopez told the court that she intends to retain a lawyer. The County said response will be filed by Monday 3/6. There is no such document in e court. I checked this morning and again at 12:45 this afternoon. Another CMC is scheduled for 7/10.

4/10: CMC, demurrer, motion to strike portions of plaintiffs complaint scheduled for 7/10.

7/10: Demurrer sustained with leave to amend. Motion to strike dropped from calendar.

10/9: Another CMC scheduled for 2/9/24.

10/17:  Demurrer to First Amended Complaint sustained with leave to amend.

12/15: Ex parte hearing requested to dismiss case for failure to amend complaint; petition denied without prejudice because answer has been filed. CMC on 2/9/24.

2/9/24: CMC continued to 4/19/24.

4/19: Trial assignment on 6/6/25; jury trial on 6/9/25.
