Eureka Assistant Police Chief issued the following information to warn public and businesses of a current scam.
"On March 17, 2023, the Eureka Police Department was contacted by two separate businesses in regards to suspicious phone calls they received by an unknown person who identified themselves as being with EPD. The caller made inquiries and requests from both business in regards to their finances and to deliver money from their businesses to specified locations."
"These are scam calls. EPD has been in contact with both businesses and are investigating these incidents. Please report any incident like this to your local law enforcement jurisdiction immediately."
"The Eureka Police Department will never phone you and inquire into your finances or request you transfer or transport any funds to them or on their behalf. "
