Vacation rentals and Airbnbs major contributor to lack of housing and affordable housing in Humboldt

Vacation rentals and AirBnbs are just two major impacts Humboldt County and City of Eureka need
to address when it comes to lack of housing and affordable housing. Elected officials and those who profit will not do anything. There is also the threat of litigation from selfish, competing interests.

The owners of the established local media who have been around for decades look the other way as usual because they are embedded in the inner circle of the very people they are supposed to held accountable.

These media sources do not report the many Humboldt specific reasons homelessness exists and keeps growing despite money being constantly thrown because those operating and using these funds are not monitored or held accountable.

Profit is being made on the backs of the most vulnerable by the same people from private landowners, non profits, government, contractors involved in "affordable" housing.

Elected officials, their lawyers and friends dabble and use their properties for short term rentals. They care about money just as much as any other property owner. Eric Kirk whined as a landlord when rental laws were passed on COVID . Google what I reported about Peter Martin as a landlord. I use those two as examples because many on the left ignore that these two are capitalists and all that public posturing about the people is two faced.

These people contribute to the shortage of housing and then whine about homeless and sue against regulations. Are these short term rentals subject to the same vigorous inspections and regulations as apartments or hotels? You like the money but want no accountability or have standards for what you rent for outrageous profit?

These mostly anonymous whiners are nasty, entitled, self centered degenerates; many who inherited properties they now own from their slumlord ancestors.

Cal Poly and Providence's ill planned growth creates the same price gouging and greed used when weed was illegal. The same "housing crisis" caused by the many Humboldt property owners who charged pot growers outrageous rents and gave a finger to everyone else.

I laugh now when I see their empty for sale, lease signs. They still won't downsize or budget or change their HumScrooge ways because they still have enough money to burn. The Humboldt cabal takes care of each other and makes sure they kick down anyone trying to claw their way out of the hole created by the Humboldt connected and clueless.

Lot of the housing funds repeatedly goes to the same select populations whether it is tribal housing, mental illness, drug rehab and sober houses. The working, average individual just gets put on the 211 or Uplift list knowing there is no chance with 5 plus years backlog. That is if you even qualify. These structures being built already have a waiting list of people who will be placed there.  It is false hope to get more money, more grants and data that is misleading.

Housing funds going to bureaucratic costs and salaries and the number of people getting housed is minimal in comparison. Read these two links which got ignored in other local coverage for obvious reasons.  It is the same few people, agencies and non profits making money who have been involved in "affordable" and "transitional housing" for decades.  If they don't like someone, they blacklist you or won't help you.

The same people get shuffled around while upgrading structures and new funds are collected. Zero accountability.

Housing is an issue all over the world and the country but Humboldt specific struggles are because of greed, incompetence, hate and small town petty retaliation.
