I just got this email. So I called the number. This email was deceptive. The email address does not belong to the person who answered the cell phone and wanted to speak to me.
That person turned out to be "H", John Doe's older brother who cursed me out and threatened me and told me to take the post down about Benjamin Pesch.
"H" Why didn't you just write me an email with any concerns instead of going through this charade. You answered the cell phone when I called.
That was not the only email I received. There were two more.
I don't care who your family is, your aunt is, your uncle is, your family's connections with a Humboldt Superior Court Judge and your family's chumminess and endorsement of a County Supervisor. You just showed your true colors. You threatened Benjamin Pesch and now me. You are out of control.
Your credibility is zilch. Why should anyone believe anything you said about Benjamin Pesch?
I have never and will never reveal the identity of a minor who is a witness in an alleged sexual assault case on my blog. There was another threatening email sent to my spam folder at 3:50 p.m. after the "Joe Downing" email. Since it had "H"'s name in the text as well, I did not include it on the post.
There is nothing that says I cannot print adult names or names of "H" and "E" stated in court and on record. It is a choice I make because their names would reveal John Doe's identity. It is a choice in reporting certain type of cases. That does not mean "H" or his family or anyone else gets to take advantage of what is courtesy to bully, intimidate, threaten me or harm me.
People already know who John Doe and the alleged victim's family is through the Humboldt grapevine. They always do and do those people when they are gossiping and spreading unverified information not vetted in court protect identities?
I am documenting this threat and have sent it to District Attorney Stacey Eads, Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer, Mr. Zach Curtis, EPD Assistant Chief Brian Stephens and my lawyer.
Do not ever threaten me. Do not try and intimidate me. Do not try and think your spoiled brat and entitled upbringing allows you to threaten me about reporting on valid news and a very serious court case. Mirroring the bullying behavior of some of the male role models around you? I personally know some of your family including male relatives and how they act personally and in business. Rules and the law apply to everyone, including you "H." Now you made the local headlines just like some of your family members.
Your parents have no control over you. Your family, immediate and extended, have access to several lawyers. Ask them to sit down with you and explain to you the potential consequences of going around threatening people. The moment I heard your family's name in court, alarm bells went off. I knew this case and any coverage would be a shit show.
How close are you to being 18 years old, a legal adult in the U.S.? You were 17 last year when Pesch was arrested. You won't be a minor once you are 18 and you are not the alleged victim.
I don't care how much money your family has, you have a filthy mouth, you lie, you are deceptive. Is this how you were raised? Don't take your anger out on me. If these allegations are true, then your family failed you and you failed your younger brother by allowing Pesch in your house. Then you go threaten someone who tried to cover this complicated case because I doing my best to inform the community.
At 5:18, I received an apology from email from "H."
The email has "H"'s real name and email address. Therefore I cut and pasted the text of the email.
"John,
It has been an emotional last 4 hours with what was posted on your blog. I reacted foolishly because of the memories that have been brought back up to the surface. I am sorry for reaching out to you directly without knowing the true facts. After talking with officer Honsol I understand now that it was public knowledge and that you were just doing your job. Even though I don’t agree with you posting this information I understand you were just doing your job.
Again, I am sorry for my remarks. I am not condoning my behavior but I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. "
I wrote back. "I forgive you and I will add this to my post."
If this apology is sincere, it will be more than sending one email. For now, I forgive "H" and gave the benefit of doubt but am cautious.
Will his family members or even the defendant's family retaliate the usual Humboldt sneaky, underhanded way when certain people punish me financially, personally for reporting valid and relevant news.
I have paid very close attention to retaliation about my reporting and in the last 4 years, unexpected backlash and costing me financially. I know who has called to pressure my advertisers and in the last 4 years there are a lot of observations and specifics and connections to certain posts and people I have noted that came out of nowhere to advertisers who were very happy.
What is very interesting that the parents and relatives of alleged victim's in this case are endorsers of First District Supervisor Rex Bohn. Rex has certainly been vocal including recently and in public on behalf of one of the extended relatives of the alleged victim's family. Wouldn't be the first time Rex took an interest in a court case. The Board of Supervisors do have a say in the DA's office with funding.
One has to wonder if HCSO Deputy Rogers did not write down the threat "H" made against Pesch because of his Humboldt well known family connections. Why did "H" call Sheriff Honsal about me?
Pesch is out of custody. He was arrested in 2022.Why was his preliminary such a rush when another sex offender, Manuel Garcia Avalos, arrested in 2021 with more egregious charges and in custody keeps getting his preliminary continued several times. The defense has requested a continuance in Avalos' case but most recently, it has been continued twice by the same Deputy DA who is also the prosecutor in the Pesch case.
My distrust is caused by 19 years of growing abuse and hate each year from retailiatory, backstabbing, unrepetant evil that walk around with sour faces instead of apologizing and thanking me for the kindness and support I offered them and for what I have done for this community despite the wrong done to me.
This includes "H"s relatives who I had the misfortune of thinking were different than every other generational, arrogant, thoughtless, ungrateful Humboldtian.
I am effective. People do read what I write and listen. Those who target me know that and their constant attacks are evidence.
I have risked a lot standing up, speaking up for others who I owe nothing to and of those people; some are grateful; others are not. That does not change my integrity or dedication.
Those who can't stand me are pissed they don't control me despite their repeated efforts to destroy me, gaslight me, wear me down. I expose the truth about the ugliness they refuse to face, acknowledge or take responsibility for and this has gone on for decades.
Most people have no idea what it takes to cover court the way I do or the reporting I do and the toll it takes and has taken on me.
The email in the guise of a donation when I singlehandedly struggle to maintain this blog despite the underhanded tactics and obstacles to fund it and many other challenges created by the pathetic Humboldt haters was a low blow.
I am still feeling the effects of covering this case 24 hours later. I am going to keep what I originally wrote because there are many people in Humboldt who need to read it. I will not be bullied or abused.
The hateful, miserable gnats who plague Humboldt, especially on social media and gloat on the misery they think they cause me or others are clueless, pathetic losers.
There are several people who do care about me and appreciative and loyal. Those who do good and are strong, we look out for each other. I don't always print those emails of support and I have learned not to share anything because the haters who target me would go after these other people. Don't assume who reads, supports me, talks to me.
The haters, the injustice, the vitriol does not diminish my value. The denial of losers and haters does not have any bearing on my success, impact and contribution to this community. My self esteem does not depend on anyone. What angers the haters is what I and others who do good achieve and accomplish despite everything done to us and the constant attacks.
Humboldt County and the Humboldt Connected created the pain "H" feels. They are responsible for the pain, frustration and exhausation I feel. The worthless Humboldt cabal looks the other way as does the other local cowardly media. Depending on who it is they choose what and who they write about and that has cost them readers and viewers. Pesch is another case other local media did not cover because they are lazy and because it involves families that the other media does not want to anger or upset.
I have covered several court cases, including those about alleged and convicted molestation and abuse. The defendants and victims include well known Humboldt generational families. Fortuna and Humboldt need to get their act together about who they allow access to their children. There are way too many alleged molestation cases and convictions and these are just the ones we know about and made it into the court system.
