Today's trial setting in local attorney Michael Acosta and his co-defendant and partner Sarah Carroll's case was contiued to April 5. I had spoken with Acosta and he said he was going to ask to represent himself, again. Today, Acosta got another court appointed attorney, Ms. Rebecca Linkous. Acosta's Faretta motion was rejected on March 7 but he can resubmit it.
Carroll is represented by Ms. Andrea Sullivan. I reported last month that Acosta's court appointed attorney, Mr. Zach Curtis was going over to the Conflict Counsel's office. Confirmation of counsel in Acosta's case is scheduled for today.
At the last hearing, defense made an oral request for any Brady material concerning former HCSO Deputy Matt Tomlin and a motion to continue. Offers have been made by the People and resolution talks have been ongoing.
Deputy District Attorney Ian Harris is the prosecutor for this case. Deputy DA Trent Timm appeared for the People in court today.
