Expect this Monday and this week at Humboldt Superior Court to be chaotic

Expect this Monday and this week at Humboldt Superior Court to be chaotic.

Due to staffing issues this week  starting Monday, several courts will be dark and scheduling will be adjusted accordingly. The trend of surprise schedule changes staffing issues and last minute continuances remain the norm. That is what the  current Humboldt Superior Court management  team of Humboldt Judge Gregory Kreis, CEO Kim Bartleson and Operations Manager Kelly Nyberg and their hand picked minions have created due to poor decisions.

There have always been errors in the ecourt sysyem and court minutes but thanks to the Kreis, Bartleson, Nyberg  moving all the clerks to the already cramped I street offices, there are more errors in court minutes, days go before minutes in civil cases are uploaded, some criminal case minutes are delayed.

Bartleson is not expected to return from her "leave". Nyberg is expected to retire in December. But the Kreis who is Presiding Judge, currently embroiled in a lawsuit with egregious allegations and is being investigated by the Commission on Judicial Performance continues to sink Humboldt Superior Court like the Titanic.

Effective this Monday, there are also going to be changes in times of  hearings in some courtrooms, changes in judicial assignments and when a Judge is disqualified, changes which "buddy court" will get the case. The memo from Assistant Presiding Judge Neel about these developments went out at 3 p.m. Friday.

Guess who has the lightest calendar regardless of changes, Presiding Judge Gregory J. Kreis? He couldn't be bothered to send out the memo. Had Judge Neel do it.

Judge Steven Steward who just started this year has a busier daily calendar than Kreis. All one has to do is look at the daily calendar. 602 hearings are being heard by Judge Lawrence Killoran who also hears family court cases. What does Kreis do to earn his $260,000 salary?
