Chance Bennett was arrested by Fortuna Police Department yesterday on an arrest warrant for PC 1551(a), fugitive from justice.
A reader sent me a message a few minutes ago, "Chance Bennett was arrested in Hydesville for evading parole due to robbery in Florida. Arrested yesterday on Riverbar Road. I wonder if they release him."
The DA's complaint confirms Bennett's warrant is out of Florida. He is charged with 1 count of PC 1551 (a).
Bennett is still in custody. Bennett was arraigned on 3/17, Public Defender's office appointed, Judge Steven Steward set bail at $85,000. There is an extradition hearing on 3/23.
3/23 : Public Defender made motion to continue the extradition hearing to 4/24.
4/24: Extradition hearing continued by defense to 5/25 because Bennett continues to seek attorney in Florida.
5/25 Bennett failed to appear, bench warrant issued & held to $85,000. Setting of identity and extradition hearing on 6/23.
6/23: Continued again. I am no longer covering future hearings unless there is a significant development.
