80 year old local attorney Victor Manuel Campos was arrested yesterday by Humboldt County Drug Task Force for HS 11366 operating or maintaining a drug house and HS 11351 possession of a controlled substance, fentanyl. Campos' bail is $35,000.
Kyle Andrae Cross was arrested by HCDTF at the same location for the same charges as Campos at the same time.
I used to have office space close by Campos' home office on 5th Street in Eureka and observed him on many occasions with some shady women at that location and at Target. I saw at least one woman who seemed to be living with Campos.
His office is right across the street from the Courthouse, the jail and surrounded by law firms and their offices. The arrest explains why Campos never had an issue with the suspicious people around his office who preyed on other nearby businesses and residences at night.
These suspicious people mouthed off to me and EPD when they were engaged in suspicious activity. Regular readers will remember the posts about the alley near Eureka City Hall and the Courthouse.
Like Campos, the nearby businesses did nothing to discourage these people from hanging around but are the first to whine and complain about EPD and safety and how their businesses are affected.
According to sources who know Campos, he was "shacking up with some drug addicts." Some of those sources said Campos said he was going to throw a woman out who was living with him. More than one source told me the woman Campos threw out allegedly stole Campos' computer which had client information on it and pawned it. When I got that tip, I checked e court and I saw Campos had filed some elder abuse complaints. Both cases were dismissed because Campos failed to appear.

At the residence, agents contacted and detained 37-year-old Kyle Cross and 80-year-old Victor Campos.
During the service of the warrant, agents located approximately seven ounces of fentanyl, a digital scale and drug paraphernalia. It was determined both Cross and Campos had free access to all parts of the residence. Based on evidence located on scene, both Cross and Campos were arrested on the following charges:
