No arrests in brandishing a firearm and traffic collision incident


On August 7, 2021, at about 11:45 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of Bald Hills Road near Lady Bird Johnson Grove for the report of a firearm brandishing and traffic collision.

Deputies arrived on scene and located an injured adult male victim lying in the middle of the road. The male was transported to an out of area hospital where he remains in critical condition. 

Deputies also contacted an additional adult male on scene who told deputies he struck the victim with his vehicle out of self-defense after the victim threatened him with a firearm. The firearm was located at the scene.

This case is under investigation by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division. No arrests have been made at this time.
