Interior Secretary Haaland and White House CEQ Chair will visit Eureka and Orick this week.
Members of the media have been invited tomorrow to attend a press conference in Eureka on offshore wind investments and on Wednesday in Orick to attend another press conference on locally led conservation initiatives.
Press Release:
On August 10 and 11, Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland and White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Brenda Mallory will travel to California with Rep. Jared Huffman.
On Tuesday, they will discuss the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to build a clean energy economy and create jobs, including by spurring offshore wind development. They will also meet with Tribal leaders to discuss the Biden-Harris administration’s investments in Tribal communities, including an all-of-government approach to the missing and murdered Indigenous peoples crisis.
On Wednesday, they will hear directly from community leaders that are forging collaborative, locally led partnerships to conserve and restore California’s Redwood forests and increase climate resiliency.
Over the course of the two days, Secretary Haaland and Chair Mallory will meet with elected federal, state and local leaders, Tribes, and other community members to highlight opportunities through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal to support state and local conservation and resiliency efforts.
