Arcata attempted murder suspect Kaven Latheniel Dangerfield's preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 4. It was continued to August 5.
He is charged with Count 1, attempted murder with a special allegation of use of a deadly weapon; a knife. Count 2 is assault with a deadly weapon with special allegation of great bodily injury. Another special allegation which pertains to both Counts 1 and 2 is that Dangerfield has a prior conviction of a serious or violent felony. That conviction was for burglary in Stockton.
On 7/26, the victim, Samuel Matranga requested a temporary civil harassment order and it was granted. A hearing to make that order permanent is scheduled on 8/16.
