HCSO Deputy who resigned is Matthew Arellano. CHP PIO Paul Craft provided the press release for the August 7 incident. CHP investigation provided information that contradicted Arellano's initial statement to officers.

Arellano graduated from CR Law Enforcement Training Center and joined HCSO in mid December 2018.
