Cogorno fired, Bareilles gone, Ray Christie hires top LA firm

Ray Christie fired one of his attorneys, Mr. John Cogorno on August 4. Just a few minutes ago, his other attorney, Mr. Ken Bareilles filed a substitution of counsel and is no longer Christie's attorney.

Christie is now being represented by Larson LLP, a law firm in Los Angeles. Mr. Stephen Larson is a former U.S. District Judge and the founding partner. Mr. Rick Richmond is a partner. Both names and two other associates were on the notice for substitution for counsel filed today.

Next court date is trial confirmation on September 20. With both previous attorneys gone, what will happen to the motion for new trial filed by them? Will the jury trial for October 4 proceed?

Deputy District Attorneys Steven Steward and David Moutrie were notified and are aware Christie has new counsel.

9/9: Christie's attorneys had spoken to Mr. Steward prior to filing a motion to continue. On September 9, Judge Wilson deferred his ruling to September 20. Judge Wilson told the People to make a conditional decidion regarding the status of the misdemeanors by the trial confirmation date.
