Arcata Mayor Brett Matthew Watson was arrested by CHP Officer Chris Nielson on August 1 for HS 11364 (a) posession of opium pipe or any drug paraphernelia for ingesting/smoking a controlled substance, HS 11350 (a) possession of  a controlled substance and VC 23152(G), driving under the combined influence of drugs and alcohol. 

Watson was driving a silver Lexus on 101 and initially stopped for unsafe driving behavior. He was booked on the three charges as misdemeanors and released on O.R.
