"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me"

To be fair, I am basing my observations on 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th streets.

Except for hardcore alcoholics like J.D. Pitman and frequently booked offenders such as Josan Hattje, the streets of Eureka have less people visible on the streets.

Even "Ginger", the guy who hangs out near the 5th and N gas station, McDonalds and Target with obvious mental health issues had clean summer clothes on and looked like he had taken a shower.

I have seen EPD check on those on the streets, some have issues preventing them from getting help. Shuttering the courts and other COVID 19 related closures with government agencies are not helping. You can't force some people to get help.

I have written about Rick before. I really hope through the City of Eureka low income housing or some program, he now has a roof over his head and is safe. When I walk around Eureka, it isn't always about news. In 17 years, there are many people I have gotten to know and their individual situation.

So EPD and all those out there helping the people on the streets, the difference you are making is apparent.
