Media reports were that after thousands marched in solidarity with Portland tonight and while there were many peaceful protestors, that there were demonstrators who were violent, engaged in violence and shouted racial slurs.

In Seattle, local TV and newspaper reports, stated anywhere from 45 to 48 protestors were arrested today. Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said over 40 arrests and s 20 police officers were injured. A riot was declared by police after damage of broken windows on vehicles and trailers were set on fire.

The Seattle Times reported protesters threw an explosive device that blew an eight-inch hole through the Police Department’s East Precinct. One of the fires was started in a Starbucks, which forced people living in apartments above to evacuate.

Seattle Fire Chief Harold Scoggins, said he was especially concerned because three of the fires, including the Starbucks blaze, were difficult for firefighters to respond to. Fire officials responded to 12 medical calls, he added, mostly for Seattle police officers.
