Three police officers outside the post office at 5th and H street in Eureka

One of the two responding police officers just left. EPD officer Heinrich Soltow is still here. Officer Ryan Swanson got here after the first two officers. The guy asked someone passing by to call the police for him.



The man is not detained or cuffed. Officers just speaking with him. He is smoking a cigarette. The man just yelled, "fuck".

The guy has  an Eastern European accent. I heard some of the conversation as I was standing away and letting the officers do their job. That location is also very busy.

The guy just got here. He has been to Arcata; now Eureka. Officers inquired about his circumstances and referred him to St. Vincent De Paul to get a meal.

Heard him say something about not wanting to take away from someone else. As he left, he yelled," I fucking love America. "  Said something like the first people to be decent to him were "cops." The guy said  compared to where he is from; this shocked him.
