Media, victim and defendant's families are not allowed on the second floor but dirty, filthy mentally ill bums can wander around?

This morning, at trial assignment for murder suspect Brandon Watson, there were issues because was no livestream. The judge, the bailiff, tech, no one was paying attention. Meanwhile, court was in session. The livestream eventually started late.

For the victim's family, when this happens, there is no recourse. It is the same for those who have court, the public and media who is trying to bring information. Reporting accurately is affected by these constant issues; not to mention the time wasted because you can't hear, observe or have access to court records.

Media, victim and defendant's families are not allowed on the second floor but dirty, filthy, mentally ill bums can wander around? I guess the bums aren't spreading COVID.

I had to get information being resourceful while a lunatic was ranting around on the second floor. No one is monitoring the second floor. I have repeatedly brought this to the attention of court admin and staff privately.  All the other local media with more resources have done nothing to assist in public transparency for the courts, as usual leaving me to advocate for all media and the public.

Public Health wont allow in person briefings but that information can be released online. Court information impacts people's lives and freedom.

With courts,  people are stuck in jail and victims'  lives are on hold.

The livestream works for Public Health, HCSO and City of Eureka meetings without constant issues.
There is no access to files, court records making this reporting via Zoom harder. Court schedules change constantly.

We are four months into this pandemic. Court staff is being paid. Some are working twice as hard. What are the rest of staff doing? They are not dealing with the public.

If court  livestream worked properly and there was some access to court records, I wouldn't have to be at the Courthouse as often following up on days worth of cases. All day preliminary hearings, multiple, useless continuances and no direct access to e court has added to 20 hours a day pre-pandemic.

There is money to bring court proceedings and access online. The tech issues have worsened in the last month. Is the CA Judicial Council paying attention? You cant file documents in person, meanwhile we just had a domestic violence incident that required Bearcat and SWAT to respond.

Attorneys don't know about hearings. Public finds out about hearings through this blog. Things aren't filed properly or missing from files.

There is absolutely no reason for the I street office to be closed when they have had barriers, prior to the pandemic. Certain employees are whining about not wanting to work. Then quit collecting your paycheck.

There is absolutely no reason a staff member cannot be seated in the lobby, near security,  and with physical distancing, allow media and public to ask questions about dates or print out a complaint.

There is abolutely no reason for tech issues now, four months into the psndemic, when it was working before. Go back to just two criminal courtrooms if equipment is the problem. Unless it is a serious case, traffic, civil and family law cases can wait. Has Presiding Judge Joyce Hinrichs written to the CA Judicial Council for accomodations for local courts for local needs?

It is costing extra time for the jail and staff to have defendants appear remotely. Those offices closed in the City of Eureka and Humboldt Courts disrespect the taxpayers. If union bureaucrats are the obstacle, it is time to cut off their funds and paychecks. No service; no pay.

It isn't just the courts, it is all government. Selective enforcement in Humboldt and California. Legislators, unions, government employees being paid while private industry and working people's lives, savings and income is being devastated.

COVID 19 isn't going away. The precautions are not working because of selfish, irresponsible people. Time to implement reasonable plans and uniform policies. Air travel is okay but indoor dining is not?

People forced to work from home because courts and government offices are closed but violent protests are okay?

    1. It was rescheduled. You can call the DA's office or the clerk's office for new dates.
