Trial setting continued for Brian Leiteritz due to ongoing discussions to resolve the case

Trial setting for voluntary manslaughter suspect Brian Leiteritz was continued to September 28.

Leiteritz is charged with Count 1 voluntary manslaughter and the special allegation of use of a deadly weapon in the commission of the crime and Count 2 Assault  with a deadly weapon and special allegation of causing great bodily injury/death.

Mr. Steward said there have been ongoing discussions about "settlement negotiations" and he agreed with Mr. Robinson about a 60 day date for trial setting.

Judge Kaleb Cockrum said by that time, the courts would also have "a better idea" about scheduling for out of custody jury trials.
