Antone Aubrey's jury trial is still going on today with Dr. Mikel Matto testifying. Dr. Martin Williams and Dr. Andrew Renouf are the two other experts who have testified.
Dr. Matto asked Judge Wilson if he was required to be here Monday, he needed to arrange coverage and if he could know that once court resumes this afternoon.
Judge Christopher Wilson said he didn't think Dr. Matto would be required Monday but that is his estimate.
Dr. Williams is Mr. Russ Clanton's expert of choice these days.
Deputy District Attorney Candace Myers is the prosecutor for the case.
Before lunch, Mr. Clanton said to Judge Wilson, "When we are on mute, I have a comment off the record?"
"Off the record," asked Judge Wilson.
Dr. Matto finished his testimony at 2:18. Defense rests. Ms. Myers asked for a break to see if she wants to call any witnesses for rebuttal. 2:42 she chose not to offer rebuttal.
Closing arguments and rebuttal are scheduled for Monday at 9:30. People have the burden of proof for the guilt phase of the trial. Defense has the burden of proof for the not guilty by insanity part of the trial.
