The Public Health Nurse in the Bloomberg piece is to be commended. Heather Muller and Public Health still blow off Alder Bay and complaints about people like the meth dealer. Got to keep that overtime and cash flowing for the County. Let's not really take concrete action to stop actual transmission. Let's not provide accurate information. Three days of numbers combined maintains pandemic mania. We have enough of local media that does our bidding so let's reward them with meaingless information and vague answers to distract the public.
The Public Health Nurse didn't say anything new that individuals in the community or I have already pointed out for months. But in typical Humboldt fashion, double speak from those in charge.
There are several examples of the gatherings and selfish people in Humboldt. Just drive by 6th street from L to R and you can see plenty of examples for yourself.
One person who since the local shelter in place order has had bbqs, mimosas, baby showers with people other than family, had a play date on 6/30/20, had an elderly parent not living with her visit regularly. Most recently as of 7/30/20.
Certain people don't care because they are going to live their lives as if there is no pandemic and risk exposing others.
I am not going to put details I sent in emails and to the tip line. I was going to post two emails I sent to the County, the City of Eureka, Sheriff and EPD.
What did City of Eureka Code Enforcement do? City of Eureka Code Enforcement got deputized to do what? Harass businesses? Let's see some stats about how cities in Humboldt and County followed up on COVID tips about these gatherings, violations?
The third floor of City Hall is closed to the public, yet the employees collect the same salary.
We have a joke for City of Eureka code enforcement and complete lack of leadership from elected officials in the County and City of Eureka who are more concerned about being PC and popular than saving lives.
Susan Seaman, maybe if some of your arrogant employees didn't whine about responding to a few emails or did their job, constituents and businesses wouldn't be angry. $129, 000 plus is what your Deputy Director of Public Works makes. $201,763.32 is what your Director of Public Works makes. Trim that budget before you cut police and fire.
Regular readers remember the posts I have done on the guy with the friend from Louisiana as well as the numerous posts on the alley behind the gas station on 5th and and the issues. Despite filing an official POP form and then receiving no follow up, I got attitude from Brian Issa. He and his lazy staff could not walk down two blocks from Eureka City Hall or they would smell the overpowering stench of feces and urine. They may not find needles since the addicts are now picking them up. Brian dismisses all this evidence, "it is just graffitti."
Here are two photos from July 24 and 25. I didnt call EPD even though the guy was injecting something in his arm. The other photo was a field interview. I just happened to see it.
Issa refuses to even give information requested about who is responsible for the alley, the shed. What is Code Enforcement busy with? Kissing up to certain landlords, businesses, motel owners but thwarting business for others? There are numerous businesses and individuals with complaints. This is what happens when certain City staff do what they want with no accountability and no management from City Council.
Who pays the salaries of these government employees?
Separate the data and indicate businesses and individuals. Restrictions are being imposed and the reopening modified because those in charge are too lazy to go after the real problem.
Why should I or any one following the rules continue to suffer financial, social or health impacts while those knowingly exposing others get to shut down the County, the State and the Country with zero consequences for their selfish behavior.
Are these COVID 19 numbers even accurate? Maybe Rex and Billy can walk in and get tested. Others want to but you can't even see your doctor unless it is via Zoom.
People are running around without masks, including employees of the bloodmobile, who stepped out of the van, stood next to each other on 6th and I and did not put their masks on even as I walked by. This was right across from Public Health.
Will Susan Seaman, Eureka City Council and others run to their PR reporters over at the Times-Standard, North Coast Journal or Lost Coast Outpost to do a fluff piece or something to distract from these facts?
