Judge Cockrum denies setting request, preliminary hearing for Kevin Carns reset for August


Kidnapping and assault suspect Kevin Carns preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 7. It was rescheduled to today.

Judge Kaleb Cockrum continued the preliminary hearing on the court's own motion to August 27.

Carns' attorney is Ms. Christina Allbright. Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is the prosecutor for the case. Deputy DA Steven Steward appeared on the case today for the People.

Ms. Allbright said, "my client will waive time. There are a number of matters to be addressed. Ms. Eads and I are frequentlycommunicating. We agree the preliminary hearing will not proceed today."

Ms. Allbright's request for setting was denied."It has been four months without a prelim,"said Judge Cockrum.
