After 23 years at Roundtable, new Courthouse Cafe owner pursues his own American dream

After 23 years at Roundtable Pizza in management, Christopher Rohrs is no stranger to food business. This June, Rohrs took over as the new owner of the cafe located on the third floor of the Humboldt County Courthouse. He went from regional manager to entrepreneur.

The Smokestack cafe has a new decor. Besides of photos of trains and railroads, you can watch the model train display circle overhead as you enjoy your food.

The menu is the same but Rohrs has kicked it up a notch with adding his own twist to the daily specials.

Rohrs made the decision to buy the cafe for several reasons. Less stress and less travel. Rohrs and his family love the area and he plans to retire here.  And most importantly, "the chance at the American dream, owning a business."
