So Hank thinks his "reporter" knows more than the defense attorney for Marci Kitchen and a lawyer?

So Hank thinks his "reporter" knows more than the defense attorney for Marci Kitchen and a lawyer?

Most of the other reporters got the part that it was 11 years or close to that. The two year reference was to a mid term cap and does not include all charges.

Very irresponsible reporting in a very high profile case.

Hank, your reporter interviewing the same private attorneys who stuck taxpayers with Kitchen's bills about why Marci Kitchen may have plead is hardly objective or relevant information to the change of plea today.

Hank it helps to pay attention in court, take accurate notes and not depend on attorneys all the time, outside court, to explain things.  This time there wasn't enough time to have an attorney explain before posting, and LOCO made a big oopsie!

You got scooped by almost every other news outlet in court today and we got the information correct.

The rest of us respected the attorneys and the families wishes not to comment. I am still spending more time, after a long day, explaining LOCO's inaccurate assertion to people instead of working on my own blog.

Other minor errors like dates are not as big of a deal but little mistakes add up. In the Ronald Loureiro case, Rhonda Parker's article reported an August 16 trial setting, it is October 16.

Not as major as yesterday. How many inaccuracies may have gone unnnoticed? Misinformation gets spread by your mistakes LOCO that updates cannot undo. Rhonda is a former reporter who covered courts, is married to a local defense attorney and certainly spends enough time asking attorneys questions. The rest of us manage accurate reporting without needing constant attorney assistance except for an occasional clarification.

Finally, Hank had to give in and admit it was an error with a second update.

Facts are not important to LOCO. Despite being told that Ward 1 candidate Anthony Mantova is renting from the Blackwell family but not Michelle Costantine and her husband, LOCO didn't correct their inaccurate reporting.

Dan Squier from the Times-Standard continues his sloppy journalism (I wont revisit the errors I have previously mentioned). There are 4 counts with special allegations, not as he described below and there is a custody hearing on September 4 so the  Judge did not deny the motion to remand until the sentencing which is on September 18.

People need to start paying attention to what sources they chose to get their information from before reacting to inaccurate information.

Maybe both Dan and Rhonda need to spend a little less time yakking in and outside court and acting like they  are "the shit" and work on listening skills and getting facts right.

Despite the error in the Kitchen case being pointed out by the defense attorney, LOCO did not correct the error right away. Despite Dan Squier's errors being pointed out privately by more than one person, TS choses to allow someone who does sloppy work, who cannot even get facts right despite poring over court records for hours.

Dan also recently started covering courts so the "big man on campus" attitude from day 1  is premature. Inserting himself loudly in private conversations and incessant talking during court  is unprofessional, but TS obviously doesn't care about accuracy or professionalism.

Sub standard local reporting exists because it is tolerated.  Reporter is a title earned by hard work and original reporting.
