Self closing hinges installed on Eureka trash and recycling cans may not deter pillaging but the doors remain closed

These recycling and trash cans in Eureka have been vandalized, destroyed and pillaged.

Thanks to Eureka Councilmember Marian Brady,  City Manager Greg Sparks and City of Eureka's Miles Slattery, there is a new feature which has been added to some of the recycling and trash cans. While it will not prevent people from digging through for recycling or dumping the contents on the streets, thanks to self closing hinges, the doors to the bins stay closed.
