Patrick Delaney who was arrested on August 14 has passed away

A community member who goes to the same church as Patrick Delaney and who knows the family said that "he died day before yesterday." There is also this social media post.

According to this community member who was at the hospital with Delaney's family, "he was hit in the side of his head with something.  His head  was bashed in really badly." This is just a lay person's observation and not from any official source.

I spoke with Sgt. Kadle of Fortuna Police Department on August 27. There has been nothing filed with FPD about Delaney's injuries or death. I will have an update from HCSO later. There is nothing to indicate, at this point, that this is a suspicious death.

I have also contacted HCSO to get an update on the August 14 investigation.

In the August 16 post linked below, HCSO PIO Samantha Karges said,  "At about 8:45 p.m. August 14, deputies responded to the Bear River Rancheria for the report of an attempted child abduction of a teenager. Upon further investigation, it appears no physical attempt to abduct the minor occurred. Rather, the suspect reportedly drove alongside the minor on Brenard Rd. and demanded that the minor get in the car. The minor refused and was able to get help."

"The person we believe responsible was arrested on unrelated charges from another agency. We are still investigating and have not formally charged anyone in relation to this case."
