HCSO SWAT team asked to assist Fortuna PD with a child molestation suspect yesterday



Fortuna PD had a child molestation suspect cornered last night, reports were that he was armed, HCSO SWAT team was asked to assist,according to Sheriff William Honsal. The guy was able to avoid law enforcement last night but he was located by Fortuna Police today.

Patrico Pulido Segura was booked into the Humboldt County jail for PC 288.5 (a).

(a) Any person who either resides in the same home with the minor child or has recurring access to the child, who over a period of time, not less than three months in duration, engages in three or more acts of substantial sexual conduct with a child under the age of 14 years at the time of the commission of the offense, as defined in subdivision (b) of Section 1203.066, or three or more acts of lewd or lascivious conduct, as defined in Section 288, with a child under the age of 14 years at the time of the commission of the offense is guilty of the offense of continuous sexual abuse of a child and shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for a term of 6, 12, or 16 years."



Fortuna Police Department Press Release:

On August 28, 2018 at about 9:00 PM, The Fortuna Police Department received a citizen’s tip that Patrico Pulido Segura, age 34 of Fortuna, who was sought on several felony charges, was at an apartment on Rohnerville Road.  Fortuna Officers responded to the residence and learned that the suspect was on the property, and possibly armed. Officers set up a perimeter around the residence. Fortuna Police were assisted by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Eureka Police K-9 and Humboldt County SWAT Team in searching the property and surrounding area. Ultimately law enforcement was unable to locate Segura, who most likely fled the property prior to the SWAT deployment.

Pulido was wanted on at least eight separate felony charges related to allegations of child sexual abuse. A statewide bulletin had been distributed to law enforcement agencies throughout the state seeking his apprehension.

On August 29, 2018 at about 7:00 AM a resident on the 3900 block of Rohner St. called to report that a subject was possibly sleeping in her backyard behind a compost barrel. Fortuna Police Officers responded and located Segura sleeping at the location. Segura was taken into custody without incident.

Fortuna Police department is grateful for the tip provided by a community citizen that ultimately led to his arrest.
