Jury selection finally starts in Chad Smith's alleged molestation case

Finally, this afternoon, jury selection has started in the Chad Smith case. Every single seat, including the jury box is full with potential jurors.

Individual jurors were questioned until this morning in the jury trial for Chad Smith. He is charged with alleged molestation of his step daughter and alleged sexual abuse of her friend.

Last Friday, a 402 hearing concluded regarding  admissibility of evidence that the prosecution wants to present to jurors.

The 402 hearing is related to a defense motion in limine. DA Investigator Martin Perrone was questioned by both attorneys regarding this evidence.

I did cover some of the 402 hearing in the courtroom until the courtroom was closed at the defense's request.

The Public Defender filed a request on February 1 to bring a camera into the jail.

  1. I will not write about that hearing yet. I did take notes about what the attorneys said, why Judge Reinholtsen granted the defense request to close the courtroom and what evidence was being discussed. If it is presented at trial, I will include a post at that time. If it is not presented at trial, I will w post after the verdict.
