Local jeweler gets arrested yesterday for alleged violation of "recklessly evading" police

James Darin Goodale arrested yesterday for alleged violaton of VC2800.2(a). He owns James Darin Joaillier on Fifth street in Eureka. He was booked on a felony and "released to self."

From Shouselaw.com:
"reckless evading under Vehicle Code 2800.2 VC takes place when someone flees from a law enforcement officer in a car—AND that person drives in a dangerous and/or reckless fashion while doing so.

I contacted EPD since they are listed as the arresting agency in the jail report; Officer Nunez. EPD Captain Patrick O'Neill responded, "You will need to contact Fortuna PD. They are the investigating agency. It would be inappropriate for me to release information on their case. We merely assisted them."

I have contacted Chief Bill Dobberstein.

  2. Why do people flee from the police? Anyone that does that should get at least a fine and an ankle bracelet in order to deter this from happening.

  3. And I just saw a couple ads for the biz on TV earlier tonight. One of the people with me mentioned "is that the guy that was just picked up for that chase?" ~TMOB
