A package containing narcotics was mailed to a Humboldt County jail inmate allegedly from a volunteer Fortuna firefighter

Crystal Dean, a female volunteer Fortuna Firefighter allegedly tried to mail narcotics to an Humboldt County jail inmate; Salas.

Dean was listed as the sender. The return address was listed as the Fortuna Fire Department. A report was taken.
I have emailed HCSO and HCCF for more information and comment. It is a County holiday so I contacted Sheriff Honsal.

  1. I find it difficult to believe a public safety responder would attempt such a boneheaded thing. Could it be possible the address is spoofed by someone else with an axe to grind? So much weirdness in Humboldt-reality and fiction run close together. ~TMOB

    1. Yes, I'm wondering whether this was a vicious practical joke. Why would someone attempting to sneak drugs into the jail put a return address on the package?

    2. I, too, find it hard to believe that someone would put their return address on a parcel of contraband...Not that I haven't seen that before, but it is unusual.

  2. I am Crystal Dean. I did not send any such package, and do not know who did. I intend to cooperate with the Sheriff's office in its investigation. I also reserve my right to seek legal redress for any further publication of my name in connection with this story.

    1. "Crystal Dean", anyone can claim to be you and comment anonymously by creating a no blogger account. Let's say this is you. I have saved your comment and as far as legal redress, you are not the first one to intimidate me and fail, Making threats online before you research law is not very smart. In future, anyone claiming to be you or even the real Crystal Dean and making threats or anonymous troll insults will not get any response from me, on the blog or otherwise.
