Last minute closed session, Public Defender leaves, and both County Counsel and County PIO are out of town

Public Defender David Marcus leaving abruptly is only according go hearsay and only reported as such elsewhere. No direct statement from Marcus.

Supervisors are meeting now, in a last minute closed session, regarding Marcus and the lawsuit regarding Marcus's hiring filed against the County by Mr. Patrik Griego.
Where is County Counsel Jeffrey Blanck? On a pre scheduled vacation.

Deputy County Counsel Anne Nguyen has been assisting Mr. Blanck but she isn't here either.

Local attorney Mr. Patrik Griego said he has not heard anything official. What he has heard  is Public Defender employees saying that Humboldt County Public Defender David Marcus told them he is gone.

County PIO Sean Quincey is a out of town.

I was able to reach Supervisor Rex Bohn but since the Supervisors are in closed session about Mr. Griego's lawsuit against the County, I could not get any comment.

  1. I hope Mr. Griego gets paid for his work. John, I know you know a lot more about Marcus than you've written (as a good reporter does) but from things you've mentioned I think the problems with Marcus go farther and deeper than others have considered. I hope it all comes out so people
can see what an unacceptable job the B of S did in hiring him. Thank you for 'staying on the case'.
