New HCSO PIO is a familiar face! Congratulations Samantha!

A familiar face is the new HCSO PIO. Samantha Karges, who will be familiar to many from Faith Center or her former stomping grounds at KIEM.

Ms. Karges found oit about the job online. "I just got married. We saw this as a better opportunity to progress forward with my career, grow our family and stay in Humboldt County."

"I think the people who did this job in the past did a great job but having a civilian PIO will free up time for them to be in the field and have someone dedicated to this position."

Having worked at KIEM, Ms. Karges is familiar with the area as well as the challenges both HCSO and media face in getting timely information to the public.

"But I also have a lot to learn," she said. "This first week, there will be software training. I will be meeting with patrol lietenants so I can have the resources and connect media to the right people. HCSO wants to make sure I am successful in this position."

Ms. Karges' schedule will be Monday to Friday but she could be called out for "large emergencies" on a weekend.

  2. Hopefully now the HCSO will be able to update their official web page on showing the daily reports "Calls For Service" on a more frequent and timely basis.

It is a good tool to use in order to find out actually what is happening out there in Humboldt County.
