In Baird v. Bonta, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 that California law banning residents from openly carrying their firearms in counties with more than 200,000 was unconstitutional and violated the 2nd amendment.
“There is no record of any law restricting open carry at the Founding, let alone ‘a distinctly similar historical regulation,’” Judge Lawrence VanDyke.
Baird did not prevail regarding permits.
I reached out to Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal for comment. "I haven’t seen the ruling, but I will look at it and get back to you. I have not issued any open Carry CCW’s for our county. " I told Sheriff Honsal Monday or even Tuesday is okay since I contacted him late Friday.
