I have been covering the hearings on George Zinn's three cases in Utah State Court. I was covering live when Zinn expressed to Fourth District Judge Thomas Low that he wanted the cases to move forward. Zinn waived his preliminary hearing on all three cases.
Today, his case was scheduled for arraignment; instead he was sentenced. He appeared in court today, in person and in civilian clothes.
Utah County Public Defender Carly Madsen represents Zinn. Different Utah County prosecutors have appeared for the hearings.
As part of a plea deal, Zinn pleaded no contest to a reduced obstruction charge as a third-degree felony. Judge Low sentenced him to a term of 0 to five years in prison.
Zinn was charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, He pleaded guilty to two of those counts and was sentenced to two terms of one to 15 years in prison.
Judge Low ordered all three prison terms to be served concurrently. The theft case was dismissed.
