Ramey warrant issued for stabbing suspect and convicted felon Cody Benjamin Sides

Convicted felon Cody Benjamin Sides is known to HCSO. I have also included the 2022 press release. Sides has 7 cases in Humboldt Superior Court; one of them is a transfer from Trinity Superior Court. Convictions in 6 cases with only one dismissal of a 2014 case with a Harvey waiver.

HCSO Press Release (Jan 9, 2025)

On Jan. 8, 2026, at approximately 10:08 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the Hoopa-Willow Creek Ambulance base, located at 63 Willow Way in Willow Creek, to meet with a reported stabbing victim. 

While deputies were en route, they were advised the ambulance was transporting the victim to a local hospital.  One of the responding deputies met with the ambulance and spoke to the 40-year-old female victim.  

The victim reported she was refueling her truck along side of Highway 299 at Panther Rd., in Willow Creek when she was stabbed by a known suspect.   The suspect was identified as 45-year-old Cody Benjamin Sides of Willow Creek. 

Due to the nature and potential severity of her injuries, the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. 

Deputies conducted a search of the surrounding area for Sides, and he was not located.  As a result, a Ramey arrest warrant was obtained for Sides’ arrest. 

This investigation is ongoing.

A Humboldt County man wanted for attempted murder was taken into custody Wednesday in Willow Creek.

On June 22, 2022, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received information that 41-year-old Cody Benjamin Sides was seen in the area of The Terrace Lane in Willow Creek. Sides was wanted on numerous local and out of county warrants, including a warrant for attempted murder out of Trinity County. Deputies have continued to search for Sides since he last evaded law enforcement on March 26 in the Weitchpec area.

In a coordinated effort between Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers, Sides was located and taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit at approximately 2:25 p.m. at a property on The Terrace Lane.

Sides was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on local warrant charges of felon in possession of a firearm (PC 29800(a)), possession of a controlled substance while armed (HS 11370.1(a)) and possession of stolen property (PC 496(a)). Following adjudication of these local charges, Sides will be extradited to Trinity County for prosecution of his Trinity County warrants.
