On August 12, 2025, 85 year old Raymond Aldo Luzzi was arrested by HCSO Lt. Jesse Taylor on a Ramey warrant and booked into the Humboldt County jail yesterday PC 311.11(a) for possession of child pornography. Luzzi posted bond. The DA had time to review and file charges since Luzzi is out of custody.
As of 1/14/26, the report was still under review. After checking with DA Chief Investigator Baxley, she confirmed today that the report had been rejected.
A report being rejected can be for many reasons, including the DA's office making a determination the case could not be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
A family member contacted me shortly after the arrest claiming the case had been dismissed. That was incorrect. The family member did not provide me evidence. I check on cases regularly and I am the only media who does updates with dismissals or if charges are not filed.
FROM THIS POINT ON, the rest is not for most of my regular readers but for those who only check Facebook, don't bother to read, the family member who contacted me and anyone else who needs to educate themselves before being disrespectful & making demands.
Instead of being grateful, there are always people and always from Humboldt, who have no clue how the court system works; don't bother to educate themselves; don't provide evidence and think with 100 plus cases a week and other news, I should drop everything because they said so. Some of the same people have no clue about news. A dismissal does not mean that the report about the arrest or coverage of the case is not news.
People, including lawyers, contact me all the time about cases and people I cover who end up in court cases and news elsewhere. People who have cases dismissed end up being rearrested.
There are companies that hire people to do background checks on people from Humboldt. They check on your criminal history. If there is a dismissal, it should be reported, depending on who the company hires.
I know most of my readers are grateful for the free lessons and information on the criminal justice system. For those of you whine, waste my time, make demands and won't read this information; next time you contact me, I will bill you for my time and an extra charge for laziness and entitlement.
