Alert from City of Arcata:

Due to the large structure fire in Downtown Arcata, please exercise caution around the local area and avoid the emergency scene to allow first responders to safely respond to the fire. You are also advised to avoid smokey areas and stay indoors when possible to mitigate potential health risks.

IF YOU ARE DISPLACED: The City of Arcata is working with the Red Cross as well as State and County officials to provide access to resources and safety to you. Please contact the Red Cross at (707) 496-8278 for next steps to access these services.

The fire is contained but firefighters will likely continue to be operating in the area throughout the night. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
