Like him or not, Michael Acosta has the guts to say what many think and say privately and have to me about Rex Bohn, Matt Tomlin and the good ole boys.
Pay particular attention to pages 6, 7 , 9 and 10 in Acosta's motion for change of venue. Included in exhibits is coverage from my blog and some of the random coverage by a few of the local media.
The change of venue argument with press coverage did not work in the Gary Lee Bullock case or the Marci Kitchen case but the political overtones and targeting will strike a chord with many people. The good ole boys including Rex, Matt Tomlin have an issue with certain people; outsiders particularly brown and black people. We need to know our place and how dare we question the incompetent and abusive Humboldt Connected.
The memory of how former auditor Karen Paz Dominguez was treated, smeared and attempts to silence her are fresh in people's minds. There are many who know the targeting, the blacklisting, the lies and harassment I have experienced because the good ole boys have a problem with truth and independent reporting. I have been warned and people have acknowledged the efforts trying to silence me, make me suffer financially including wanting to "run me out of town." All for exposing the ugly truth and failures of the Humboldt cabal whose chokehold in this county is well documented by the crime, poverty and drugs caused by their greed and ineffectiveness.
There are many locals who are not outsiders and and of Caucasian heritage and they have their own experiences with the nasty Humboldt cabal.
Jurors are not going to check their life experience at the door. They can listen to the evidence with an open mind and still have reasonable doubt.
Today, Rex was in Courtroom 4. Could be for a case involving the County on calendar or maybe to stick his nose in a court case involving a woman he was speaking with and sat next to in court. Apparently he had a few hours to waste since his overinflated salary is paid for by taxpayers. Just like the time he came to court for a hearing in Acosta's case.
Rex was standing outside court this morning guffawing and making a point to talk to deputy DAs, public defenders and bailiff Travis Mendes. Reminscent of when he showed up at campaign announcements for the DA and Judge last year and when he menancingly hovered over Paz Dominguez. Rex is a toxic narcissist who likes to flex his influence and his huge ego does not match any positive contribution to this community other than benefitting his family and inner circle. Doesn't he get enough of attention stinking up the first floor and screwing the taxpayers at the expense of his buddies? He recently voted to hand over a million dollars to his Humboldt Fair Association buddies who have embezzlement being investigated by the FBI. The second floor is already reeling from the stench and scandal of Gregory Kreis and his enablers. We don't need two little Napoleans on the already stressful second floor with three juries and a jam packed court calendar.
Rex should have stayed out of being involved in the Acosta et al bust. He literally handed Acosta a defense strategy.
Once Rex told me, "there are a lot of people who don't like me." He is correct but they don't have the guts to say it to your face Rex. The moment you are of no use to them, you will find out just how many people there are in Humboldt who think you are an incompetent bufoon and an embarassment to Humboldt. The local people with the bucks are waiting to see if they have a puppet to replace you in the next election and if that tool has a chance to be elected. I know of at least one potential name.
Trial confirmation is scheduled for 7/10; Motion to disqualify DA and motion for change of venue on 7/17 and jury trial on 7/24.
