Today, James Leach's two cases were on for motion to considate and 995 motion. One is a HCSO case and one is an EPD case. Leach has a gun violence restraining order against him which was granted for two years.
Today, the motion to consolidate and bail review hearing were moot after the 995 motion was granted in the HCSO case. Judge Kaleb Cockrum found no mental intent Leach's part. That case was dismissed and Leach was ordered released from custody.
In the other EPD case, the 995 motion was denied. Bail remains as previously set at $175,000. Trial confirmation 7/31; jury trial 8/7.
Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm is the prosecutor for this case.Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo is Leach's attorney.
I covered the cases extensively. You can read prior coverage if you are not familiar with the case.
7/31: Trial confirmed. Trial assignment on 8/4; 5 days time estimate. Jury trial is on 8/7.
