Supreme Court refuses to hear appeal from former county clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples

The Supreme Court will not hear an appeal from Kim Davis and the lawsuit against her can proceed. Davis is the former Kentucky county clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples despite the high court’s decision legalizing same-sex unions across the country. Davis is being sued by the gay couples for violating their constitutional right to marry. The Supreme Court rejected Davis's claim that she should be shielded from personal liability.
