Rio Dell homicide case to start next Tuesday



Murder suspect Demetrius Coleman's jury trial was continued for a week to October 5. Pre trial matters and motions in limine will start on October 6.

The trial has been assigned to Judge Kelly Neel.
Count 1 PC 187 murder. First special allegation is PC 12022.53 (d) intentional discharge of a firearm; second special allegation is PC 190.2(a) (21) murder was intentional and perpetrated by means of discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, ; third special allegation is PC 667 (b) (1) prior conviction of a serious and violent felony; fourth special allegation is PC 667 (b) (1) and fifth special allegation is PC 667 (a) (1).

Coleman has a prior conviction from Minnesota and a prior conviction from Butte County that is listed in the complaint.

Jurors maybe sworn in but no individual juror questioning that day. 

 Ms. Andrea Sullivan is Coleman's attorney.Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer is the prosecutor for the case.
