At trial confirmation for sexually violent predator Scott Eden, the jury trial for August 31 was confirmed.
Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is the prosecutor for this case. Deputy Public Defender Wade Orbelian is Eden's attorney.
Mr. Orbelian said there is a caveat. Defense expert isn't available until late September but he doesn't think that will be an issue given the time it will take for jury selection.
Judge Lawrence Killoran said, "We have another trial confirmation scheduled for August 17. We will see where we are then."
Eden was previously convicted and sentenced for spousal rape. His case was reopened and in January, the second trial was in the middle of jury selection. Nine days into the jury trial, jurors were sent home.
There was a mistrial declared.
The hearing was previously scheduled for June 1; it was continued to June 15; continued again to this morning.
