Chants of "Abolish the police", "Defund the police", "Justice for Josiah", "Cops are Criminal", "White Silence is White Violence" and "Black Lives Matter."
A biker came and yelled something at the protesters. Then drove off northbound on 5th. There were some people pissed at the traffic diversions and roads being blocked.
4:50 Protestors marching on 5th. They are now at 5th and G.
5:06: They left, were at 5th and G. Now marched past at 5th and C.
I think they are headed to EPD. I asked one of the protestors, she thinks so.
5:15 I am waiting by EPD. The group marched past 5th and C. Now they are at 4th and C and started marching northbound.
There seem to be two groups. Even people wanting to participate don't seem to know what is happening.
5:30 CHP and EPD diverting traffic at 5th and G and 5th and H. "I heard one CHP officer say, "Now we are fucked."
Protestors back at 5th and I. Some are in the street. A little dog ran out while traffic was turning on I but was saved by by one of the women standing in the street. One lane was open and people could turn from I onto 5th. Protestors are now blocking I street completely.
Some people are showing up and don't seem to be a part of any of the smaller organized groups. Some of the group are driving in cars honking and cheering at those gathered and marching.
I did talk with a few participants. I told them to stay safe. They wished me the same. It has been peaceful so far, no interactions with law enforcement. No law enforcement around the protestors. EPD and HCSO just going about their business. One EPD car assisted CHP briefly at 5th and G. Other than that CHP was only there when traffic was blocked and vehicles were couple blocks away. No interaction between the protesters and law enforcement.
5:50: They headed down I street towards 6th. Now G, now F chanting "Hands up, Dont shoot."
5:55: We are by EPD now. One CHP vehicle was ahead of them as they marched but at a distance. CHP vehicle was blocking the cross streets. This allowed the group to march down 6th street and for cars to be diverted. Difficult to do when you don't know which way the group is headed.
5:56 :They marched past EPD. A young white female carrying a sign "Honsal, Watson #problem" said, "the fucking cops here are all on steroid" and then mumbled something about the black mafia.
7 p.m. One person at the Courthouse holding a sign. The group is marching from 5th and L right in between oncoming traffic. About 30 protestors. Earlier there were about 100 protesters.
Yet, another white young female said, "here comes another crackhead."
