Trial setting for Albert Kress was continued to this morning. It was continued again to June 8 at 1:30. Deputy District Attorney Jane Mackie was in court for the People.
Kress refused to appear via video conferencing last time. In a private call with Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo, Kress agreed to waive personal appearance, then changed his mind when asked about it by Judge Kaleb Cockrum. While Judge Cockrum is disqualified on this case, today's hearing was just to set dates.
During the pandemic, it involves a lot of people and special arrangements to have a defendant personally appear in court.
Mr. Russo appeared for Kress' assigned attorney who is out of the office and had requested setting be put over "two to three weeks."
Kress is charged with the murder of Raymond Prudhomme. Kress also had another 2019 case and a 2018 case on calendar this morning.
